Schools are Joining the Moldovan SPARE Network

On October 28th, along with the Administration of Education of the Caushani region and the gymnasium from Constaninovka, the republican children-youth organization “Gutta-club” held an informational-methodological seminar on the topic “Project Activity within SPARE as a Part of the Extracurricular Work of a Geography Teacher”. Geographers from 25 educational institutions and teachers from Constantinovka gymnasium, which has been an active member for 6 years, participated in the conference. The SPARE coordinator of the gymnasium, geography teacher Derli T., presented her work experience within the organization and, with her students, conducted an open extracurricular lesson on the topic “Energy Conservation Is Not Economical but Rational Consumption”. Experienced teachers—SPARE trainers from pilot Moldovan schools, Zlotya M. (“E.. Nikulya” school from Mereni) and Rotari T. (“D. Cantemir” school from Riscani), presented examples of successful project activity of their schools. They explained what steps a student should make to write a good project for the “Energy and the Environment” national contest and gave recommendations on how to plan SPARE activity in schools for 2014-2015. Also, during the seminar, the International Day of Energy Efficiency was implemented into the school year. Teachers offered and discussed different types of activities related to the event to conduct in schools and local communities.
