SPARE Moldova Programme started with 5 schools in 2002, and today its network counts 300 public school in the country and Pridnestrovie. SPARE Program involves active teachers and school mangers throughout the country, those who are committed to introduce the principles and methods of sustainable development keeping focus on climate change, energy efficiency, renewable energy resources and the benefits obtained through energy saving and rational use of natural and energy resources.
SPARE program has established strong cooperation with educational departments of various regions across the country, research-scientific institutions, and universities to effectively introduce educational component in the project “Energy and Biomass” jointly implemented, since 2011, by UNDP and EU with the support of Parliament of Moldova.
Through its lifetime the SPARE programme has developed and published textbook “Me and Energy” for elementary school children, also practitioner guide as a teaching methodology for school teachers to start introduction of energy efficiency and climate change thematic issues at a various stages of the school program.
Within the program number of eco-puzzles, games, posters and other demo materials have been developed, also recommendations to organize environmental campaigns and summer eco-camps.
